Rail Car Unloading/Barge Loading Terminal (2010)

Consolidated Terminals and Logistics Company (CTLC)

Mt. Vernon, IN

This project involved the complete design of a facility to unload ethanol from rail cars directly into a barge on the Ohio River. Later enhancements added to the facility included a pipeline connection from an adjacent ethanol plant and a Marine Vapor Recovery Unit. The facility included four (4) rail car spots with related pumps for unloading ethanol from rail cars directly into a barge, along with related vapor collection piping, spill collection, and electronic controls.

There are very few facilities like this currently in operation in the USA.

Larry J. Hoover, P.E.; Katie Erickson; Stan Brown; Mike Harmon; and Justin Tucker all worked on this project.
